Love the Lord thy God

First Of All The Commandment – The Lord our God is one Lord: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength

We were created by God and for him, so we should worship him and him only. If we love God our creator, we believe in his word, trust in his word, obey his word, we do not fall into a pattern of disobedience, and we implement God’s word into how we live our lives. The bible teaches us that Christians should be led by the Holy Spirit and not led by the desires of flesh. The bible also teaches us that you can’t follow two masters, it is either you’re led by your fleshly desires or by the Holy Spirit. If we love God, we should love his son Jesus Christ as well because his son is one with God and is God’s word. God is love, and the knowledge of the word of God helps you define true love. 1 John‬ ‭4:7‭-‬8‬ ‭KJV‬ Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 John 5:3 KJV “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”

Let the Holy Spirit lead you, be faithful to the word of God. God’s word is his spirit and our defense against death. God loves us so much that he sent his only begotten son to die for our sins so that we will be saved. Jesus Christ is our lord and savior, and we receive grace from God through Jesus Christ. We receive salvation if we are led by the Holy Spirit, but being led by the flesh will make a person sinful, foolish, and will lead to death. Proverbs 1:7 KJV states “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Colossians 3:5-6 KJV states “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience.”

We worship God in spirit and in truth. Be faithful to God, obey and believe his word. Let the Holy Spirit lead you, have faith, be virtuous, keep knowledge of the word of God and what is good, have self-control (temperance), have patience, have a good moral compass, be kind and charitable, submit to the will of God, be obedient to God, honor God through how you live your life, and believe in his word.

Observing the sabbath is also being obedient to God because the bible teaches us that we should make every attempt to observe the sabbath, which is on the 7th day of the week (Saturday). From the beginning, the sabbath was declared a Holy Day because it was a day that God rest from all his works of creation (reference Genesis 2:1-3). We should make all attempts to rest from our works on the sabbath and keep it holy.

Supporting Scripture:

Exodus 20:1‭-‬17 KJV God’s Ten Commandments

And God spake all these words, saying, I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

1 John 5:1-5 KJV

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

John 6:63 KJV

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Galatians 5:18-26 tells us the difference between being led the Holy Spirit and being led by the flesh.

“But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, carousing, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”

2 Peter 1:4-7 KJV “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.”

John 4: 23-24 states “that true worshiper shall worship the father in spirit and in truth, for the father seeketh such to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and in truth”.

Matthew 6:24 states No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon”.

1 Timothy 6:10 states “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

Hebrews 13:5 states “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

Mark 2:27

And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

Hebrews 4: 9-11

“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

‭Hebrews‬ ‭3:12‬ ‭KJV‬
[12] Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God
