FALL FROM GRACE

Key Principle: Strive for “Do not sin” and “You shall therefore be perfect, as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.”

Misconception: Some claim that once you receive salvation, it cannot be lost and that it is impossible to fall from grace. This teaching is incorrect and, in some cases, is used to intentionally mislead others.

The truth is, the gift of salvation is not a license to live sinfully.

Warning: The devil has spread the false narrative that it is acceptable to continue living in sin after receiving salvation. This is a dangerous lie.

Salvation’s Meaning: Accepting salvation means believing that Jesus Christ died for your sins and confessing Him as Lord and Savior. The Bible makes it clear that a Christian cannot serve two masters. We must choose to follow either the Holy Spirit or the desires of this world. If Jesus is truly your Lord, you cannot serve sin at the same time—one must rule your heart.

Obedience: Ultimately, it comes down to your heart’s condition. Scripture teaches that loving God means obeying His commandments. In Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV), Jesus warns that not everyone who calls Him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only those who do the will of the Father. Many will claim to have done great works in His name, but He will reply, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice evil.”

  • Exodus 20:3–4 — “You shall have no other gods before Me.”

Some people claim to be Christians while committing evil deeds out of love for money. In reality, these people are serving sin, which leads to death. 1 Timothy 6:10 KJV [10] For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Serving Sin Is Serving a False God.

Romans 6:16 says, “You are slaves of the one you obey… either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness.”

  • Romans 6:16 — “You are slaves of the one you obey… either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness.”
  • – 1 John 2:15–16 — “Do not love the world… If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

Sin becomes idolatry when you choose it over obedience to God. Whatever controls your heart becomes your god.

  • Colossians 3:5 — “Put to death… covetousness, which is idolatry.”
  • 1 Corinthians 10:14 — “Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.”

Sin as Corruption, Idolatry, and Death

Scripture teaches that sin is not just disobedience—it is a corruption that destroys the soul and leads people away from God.

Romans 6:23 — “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

– James 1:14–15 — Desire, when it conceives, “gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.”

Scripture affirms the gift of salvation in Christ, yet it also warns that some turn back, fall away, or return to sin after receiving the truth. This is not about stumbling or weakness—it is about willful, chosen rebellion, a return to slavery.

– Hebrews 10:26 — “If we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins.”

– Galatians 5:4 — “You have fallen from grace.”

Matthew 13:20–22 — Some receive the word with joy, but later fall away because of temptation or the cares of the world.

Even the devil himself is a warning:

Once an angel of God, he fell through pride and rebellion.

– Isaiah 14:12–14 (applied to Satan’s fall) — He said, “I will make myself like the Most High.”

Closing Passage:

2 Peter 2:13-22 KJV

[13] and shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the daytime. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; [14] having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: [15] which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; [16] but was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet. [17] These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. [18] For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. [19] While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. [20] For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. [21] For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. [22] But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
