God is One (God the Father)

There is one God, God the Father, and his holy name is provided in the Old Testament. Jesus Christ is one with and of the father, he is the son of God and only way to get to the father. Without Jesus Christ, we are unclean and would be condemned. Only by faith through the word of God (Jesus Christ) can we be saved from destruction and are sons of God. To be saved, we accept Jesus Christ as our lord and savior, believe Jesus is the son of God and that he died for our sin, obey God’s commandments, and be led by the Spirit of Christ.

God is immortal and cannot die. God is the spirit of life, the source of life. God sent his son Jesus Christ in the form of a man to die for the world’s sins, and God resurrected Jesus Christ from the dead.

God’s image through Jesus Christ

In the beginning God made man in his image, but It’s not because of our physical form (flesh) that we were in God’s image, it’s because of the spirit he gave man.

God is a spirit: Genesis 6:3 KJV “And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.” John 4:24 KJV “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” Colossians 1:15 KJV” “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature”

The bible teaches that God is a spirit, and he wants us to be led by his spirit not by our fleshly desires.  Sin separated man from God and put man under a curse of death; however, those who are faithful to God and are led by his spirit will not die and become children of God. Man’s flesh may return to dust, but the souls of the faithful will awaken to receive eternal life in a spiritual body.

Genesis teaches that when the earth became corrupt and flesh caused the earth to be filled with violence, the wickedness of man became great on the earth and the imagination of men’s heart was continuously evil, and because of the corruption, God destroyed all flesh with a flood but spared the family of Noah, a man perfect in his generation, and two of every kind of animal. The only way to now spare our soul from destruction is in faith in God through his son Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the pathway to receiving salvation and eternal life, he is the word of God. For if we are part of the body of Christ, we will once again be in God’s image and children of God. When Jesus Christ was crucified, the princes of this world did not know that he could not be held by death because he is the son of God. Men are cleansed of their sins because Jesus Christ died for our sins, and our way to salvation is accepting Jesus Christ as your lord and savior and being led by the Spirit of Christ Jesus.

The father was manifested in flesh. The father is a spirit not flesh.  The father’s spirit was in Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ was in the father. Jesus Christ was obedient to the father to the point of death. Jesus Christ is the son of God.

Son of man is also used to describe Jesus Christ in the bible because Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. He died as man for our sins and was resurrected by God. Men who accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior are one in the body of Christ and their bodies are temples for the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit of Christ is manifested in the following: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance:

Works of the flesh (desires of the flesh) is manifested in the following: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murder, drunkenness, carousing.

Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Galatians 5:18-26 tells us the difference between being led the Holy Spirit and being led by the flesh.

 “But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, carousing, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”

Characteristic of God’s spirit:

2 Timothy 1:7 KJV “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Matthew 10:28 KJV “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Isaiah 11:2 KJV “And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;”

Galatians 5 22-26 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”

2 Peter 1:4-7 KJV “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
