For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Worldly riches aren’t good If you let it comprise your faith in God. People who serve lust of this world become corrupt, and their corruption spreads. Serving worldly lust is selfish and inconsiderate to your follow man. The bible teaches that no man can serve two masters, Matthew 6:24 KJV “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon”. If you’re serving worldly lust, you’re not being faithful to God, which also means that you’re breaking his commandments to love God, and to love your neighbor as yourself. A worldly person puts their soul in jeopardy for destruction because they are being unfaithful to God, the one who holds the power of life and death. Their works justify that their ways of serving worldly lust are evil. They serve money, they partake in spreading of sin because of lust, they accumulate in excess with total disregard of the negative impact on others, and they commit crimes because of the worldly lust.

They serve money:

  • Their obsession with getting more money is greater than their faith in God. 1 Timothy 6:10 states “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows”.

They partake in spreading of sin because of lust:

  • Support things that are sinful because of their lust.
  • Contribute to making sinful acts a norm.
  • Contribute to the erosion of good society’s values and morals.
  • They lie because of their lust.

They accumulate in excess with total disregard of the negative impact on others:

  • Contribute to price of utilities/necessities increase, which hinders the poor from being able to afford what they need to survive.
  • Contribute to the exploitation of kids and poor communities because of their lust.
  • Contribute to environmental problems.

They commit crimes because of the worldly lust:

  • People are murdered, violent crimes are committed because of lust, people steal because of lust, and people are framed for crimes they didn’t commit because of lust.

Those who serve worldly lust break God’s commandments, do evil to their follow man, and do evil to themselves. Serving worldly lust contributes to the increase of sin and death, and it’s also a foolish decision because this world will pass away and that person’s soul will too, but those who have faith in God will live forever.
